Jacoby Park magic

We woke up really early this morning and cruised up to Jacoby Park in the hills, it's one of our favourite places and has a sense of magic about it.

River literally jumps out of the car!!

summer holidays

Summer at its best... Karen and Chris invited us all out on the boat yesterday and oooh it was just magic (again!!)

We did miss mum's company, her pirate hat and pool paddling (love you mum!!)

Luckily we got down there early as it was absolutely packed. Before we knew it Captain Chris had maneuvered the high seas and found a beautiful island awaiting.

First off the rank - breakfast - YUM!! Karen even allowed Dad to step up to toast buttering duties. Big role, big responsibility. He pulled through better than any of us could ever imagine! And rewarded himself with a sneaky piece.

Once our bellies were full the shipmates explored the surroundings and encountered "RAY", a massive sting ray that seemed to like our boat.

He swam around the boat, under the boat, into the distance and back again, even rallying his buddies "little-ray", "billy-ray" and "sting".

Soon enough RAY was back taunting the crew who had their eyes all over him. Nothing was getting past this lot!!

With a RAY scare like that it only seemed appropriate that crew mates were up to speed on their knots. Here "deckie" takes her refresher course from the ever experienced Big Al.

RAY threats aside, and the crew now fully prepared, the fearless Caption Chris decided to show those rays that his boat was none to be messed with.

The loyal crew followed his lead and leaped into action. Michael the brave gallantly hurling himself into the water.

While Dad the great protector ran a perimeter check.

Confident of their safety, the women entered the water.

As the day unfolded, so too did the bombie competitions.

I failed to mention that our family is scarily competitive. So naturally all this action led to discussions of technique. We were all left pondering how the biggest guy on the boat could make such a dainty splash. An art form in itself.

After much teasing of her crew-mate Michael, Karen took on the boys and unleashed a secret weapon of her own... the "twistie".

Noone had seen a bombie like that before!! Dad couldn't believe his eyes.

The competition declared over, everyone started to relax.

Captain Chris showed the crew how to capsize a donut.

While the crew relaxed, confident in their donut riding abilities.

All in all, it was a fantastic day enjoyed by all. We're really looking forward to returning to this little patch of paradise.

serenity

I've clearly been neglecting this blog for some time as things have been crazy busy and most of my photography time has been spent taking photos of our dirt and concrete (aka building our house!) which can be found on my other blog Creating Park Lane and while interesting to us I wouldn't call it my best work (except of course for the pic of my infamous tap)!!

Last night we were over at mum, dad & nannas. We took river for a walk around their gorgeous lake, their serenity.

I love the feeling of their special place, it has this amazing ability to recharge the soul.

South Perth Jetty

We took a drive to the South Perth foreshore near the jetty last night. It was a gorgeous evening and we were racing against the setting sun to get there.

Michael is developing his new cd and was thinking of incorporating the jetty into his cover. Me, I'm all up for making time to take pics so it was really good for both of us, and of course river was with us and having a ball - putting smiles on the faces of little kids and adults alike - as he does!

So we get down there and low and behold there's a couple taking the jetty hostage with their camera and tripod setup. So I hung back and waited, took a few other pics and generally didn't want to get in their way. After the sun went down and they'd finished posing they took off which was brilliant - at least I got to play around with the exposures and light :)

So here are a few that I've developed so far, really need to get some filters but that will have to wait until we're well and truly sorted with our house build.

Broome

We held the official opening of our new aged care facility in Broome last week. It had built up over so many months that I couldn't believe it was finally here.

The day was warm, very warm and humid - but it was perfect in the sense that our residents and their families had a great time, I'm so glad as it was such a great community event.

I took hundreds upon hundreds of photos which I won't post here. This one however was a stitch of 7 photos showing the crowd during the official speeches

southern sandcastles

I took this pic while I was down at yallingup one evening, amazed at the effort someone had gone to in creating their own masterpiece.. very cute
